Road Trip with Rokform
Hey Rokfans! Summer is coming to an end, and it’s time to embark on those final road trips of the season. Taking a trip is definitely meant to be fun, but it’s also important to have a solid plan and to do all the right prepping before taking off to avoid events that could ruin your good time. One wrong move can turn a great trip bad, really quickly. So, we’ve compiled some tips on how to best approach your next road trip.
Be prepared!
Okay so this one is obvious to most- if you are about to hit the road with friends, your family, significant other or just by yourself, it’s imperative that you thoroughly check your vehicle before you leave. That includes checking tire pressure, making sure you have a spare (and know how to change it!). It’s also important that you check all fluid levels, belt and hose connections, turn signals, headlights and brake lights.
Packing can definitely be a difficult feat for some, especially if you are traveling with a few extra passengers. Here are some important things to remember:
- Don’t forget to stock up on all the emergency and safety gear that you may need. Make sure your phone’s completely charged and that you have a method of charging it to stay connected to your navigation. Also, pack a road atlas, just in case! You never know when you might hit an area where you don’t have connection on your phone. Moreover, a great first aid kit is extremely important.
We recommend the 73 piece AAA Excursion Road Kit, that includes a heavy-duty booster cable, 250-psi air compressor, hand-charged dual LED flashlight, and a 45 piece first-aid kit.

We also recommend the Nat Geo Road Atlas, which includes scenic routes, historic sites, recreation information, and thousands of points of interest.

If you are traveling with your family or a group, limit everyone to one bag. This might be tough, but there’s nothing worse than having to cram in for hours because someone just HAD to bring an entirely separate piece of luggage for their shoes or toys- (there’s one in every group.)
Organization, organization, organization. Clear out your trunk and try to map out how to best organize the space you have to work with. Boxes are your friend- being able to easily stack your things makes life much easier. You can keep your essentials up front with you.
For keeping your car organized, and essentials close by, we recommend the Backseat Organizer by Decanus.

Whether you’re the driver, navigator or just a regular old passenger, you’re going to want to keep a few things within reach on the road: snacks, maps, books, phones, etc.
For keeping drinks and snacks close by, we recommend the Wagan 12v Cooler/Warmer. It operates on 12v DC for use in vehicle, and can keep your items cold up to 32 Degree – 36 degrees Fahrenheit below room temperature, or warm up to 140 degrees Fahrenheit.

Don’t forget to bring a spare key, and some extra cash! (Just in case, you never know.)
On the road safety
In the US alone, over 37,000 people die in road crashes each year, and an additional 2.35 million are injured or disabled. According to the University of Utah, using a cell phone use while driving, delays a driver’s reactions as much as having a blood alcohol concentration at the legal limit of .08 percent.
Always drive hands free. Not only is it the law, but it could save your life. Always keep your phone mounted in a place that won’t obstruct your view, and so you can safely access your GPS or music, screen or pull over to answer calls.
For hands-free driving we recommend the Rokform Windshield Mount. Check out the contest rules below to find out how you can win a Rokform Windshield Suction Mount.

Driving for long periods of time can be exhausting, make sure you are well rested and alert. Make frequent stops, and rotate drivers if needed. If you’re too tired to drive, take the time to stop and get some rest.
As always, wear your seatbelt, observe speed limits, and please don’t drive impaired.
