Apple iPhone 14 rumor roundup
Just like that, the first month of 2022 is over. Our team is always looking forward and getting excited about what’s coming next, both in the short term and in the longer term. We have a few exciting products coming soon, but we’ve also been keeping our eyes out on all the talk around the next iPhones from Apple. It’s true, the 2022 iPhone lineup isn’t expected until the fall, but rest assured we’ll be ready when they finally arrive.
There’s already so much talk about what to expect from the iPhone lineup. Read on to learn about the latest Apple iPhone rumors.
iPhone 2022 Name
The iPhones of 2022 are expected to follow the same naming conventions as the last three releases. Expected names are:
iPhone 14 Pro
iPhone 14 Pro Max
The next iPhone design is a big topic of discussion, with some analysts reporting total redesigns and others mentioning small, but notable design changes. One big rumor we’re hearing is that the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone Pro Max will not have a notch in the design. Instead, one analyst has described a “punch-hole design”. Others have said it will be a combination of a punch hole and a pill. With so many differing opinions on this particular feature, we likely won’t have the definitive answer until September.
The second big rumor is that the camera bump on the back of the phone will be eliminated. That’s right, no camera bump and reduced risk of ruining your iPhone’s brilliant cameras. How is this achieved? By making the phone body thicker. Piggybacking off of this rumor, the body could potentially switch from stainless steel to titanium alloy, which would increase the body’s toughness as well as reduce its weight.
We can expect big changes to the cameras on the iPhone 14. According to analysts, the front-facing camera is better than before, featuring improved auto focus. For the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, the rear camera is expected to increase from the existing 12-megapixel sensor to a whopping 48 megapixels. Analysts believe the video capabilities on the iPhone 14 will be improved, supporting 8K recording.
This is a sad one for anyone who enjoyed the days when iPhones were much easier to hold in hand. Analysts are predicting Apple will drop the smallest iPhone size offered in the last two years. The 5.4 inch iPhones simply did not sell as much as Apple had hoped. Instead, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro are expected to be sized at 6.1 inches. The iPhone 14 Pro Max will be 6.7 inches.
