Apple’s iPhone 7 Gets An Early Challenger in the Samsung Note 7
It’s been almost 10 years since Apple first introduced the original iPhone, reimagining how we communicated on the go. But like any industry where boundaries are constantly being tested and pushed, the competition wasn’t going to sit idly by and let Apple reap all the rewards. Since that first iPhone, companies such as Samsung have tried to show the consumer that there isn’t just one option for an awesome mobile user experience.
While there are many diehard Apple fans that won’t let the tight grip of the iPhone go (that may be this very writer - wink), it’s good to see the competition creating bold and exciting alternatives. One of those being the all-new Samsung Note 7.
The device that seemingly started the “phablet” trend, the Note series has been providing users with a larger, enjoyable screen for a while. The Note 7 is no different with its 5.7 inch screen size with edge to edge visibility (very little border). Since this is kind of a known fact - that the Note 7 would be big - what are some new, cool features?
Like its Samsung counterparts the S7 and S7 Edge, the Note 7 is dust and water proof. So what, you might ask? Well Samsung took this concept to a new level with its redesigned stylus pen. Users can now use the stylus with the phone - wait for it - UNDER WATER! What? While I would never need that, I am sure there is some occupation where this is very appealing. Maybe a marine biologist?
The iPhone’s introduction of the fingerprint security system was pretty awe-inspiring at the time, but now Samsung has one-upped Apple once again with the world’s first iris scanner. Yes, you can unlock the phone with a scan of your eye. It may not be as seamless to use as the fingerprint, but nice to have that extra security if you feel you need it.
Those are some great little tidbits about the new Note 7, but we’ll have to see how it stacks up once the new iPhone 7 is revealed in a few weeks. Either way, Rokform will have cases for the iPhone 7 and for the first time we are diving into protection of a Note series device with the launch of a Rokform Note 7 case.
