Rokform 18x: MagMax mounting built in, September.

17 compact golf rangefinders ranked by real published dimensions, plus the three tradeoffs that come with a smaller body.

Smallest and lightest are two different competitions, and they have two different winners.

The Bushnell A1-Slope is the smallest golf rangefinder by volume at 95 by 36 by 60 millimetres, roughly 206 cubic centimetres. The TecTecTec KLYR is the lightest at 118 grams, and it is 40% larger in volume. Neither brand advertises the other's number, which is how this category works.

There is also a cost, and two independent reviewers said so out loud about the smallest unit here. Shrinking the body shrinks the objective lens, which shrinks the exit pupil, which means your eye placement has to be more precise. Less mass also means less damping of your own hand shake. So here are 17, ranked on published dimensions where they exist, with the tradeoff named.

TL;DR

  • Bushnell A1-Slope is the smallest by volume. TecTecTec KLYR is the lightest at 118 grams.
  • A smaller objective means a smaller exit pupil, so your eye has to line up more precisely.
  • The A1-Slope gives a 3.0mm exit pupil against 4.0mm on a full-size Bushnell.
  • Less weight means less tremor damping. Two reviewers found the smallest unit tricky to hold still.
  • Blue Tees and GOGOGO publish no dimensions or device weight for any model at all.
  • The Rokform Golf Range Finder 18x lands September 2026 with 8x to 18x adjustable magnification.

Smallest By Volume Versus Lightest By Weight

Published dimensions are rarer than they should be, and two significant brands publish nothing.

Blue Tees lists no device weight and no dimensions for any model, and the 680 gram figure on its site is a shipping weight rather than the device. GOGOGO's own blog says mini rangefinders usually weigh less than 200 grams, which is a category generalisation rather than a spec.

The Actual Numbers

Volume tells you whether it fits a trouser pocket. Weight tells you whether you notice it over eighteen holes and how much it damps your hand. Our fun golf accessories roundup keeps running into the same missing-spec problem.

Those two things do not correlate, which is why the smallest device is not the lightest and the lightest is not the smallest. Our best golf rangefinders guide covers the field on other axes.

Model Dimensions Volume Weight
Bushnell A1-Slope 95 × 36 × 60 mm 206 cm³ 145 g
Nikon Coolshot 20 GII 91 × 37 × 73 mm 246 cm³ 130 g
Nikon Coolshot 50i 99 × 38 × 76 mm 286 cm³ 176 g
TecTecTec KLYR 92.7 × 40 × 77.7 mm 288 cm³ 118 g
Voice Caddie TL1 109 × 41 × 70 mm 313 cm³ 201 g
Nikon Coolshot ProIII 102 × 42 × 74 mm 317 cm³ 205 g
Voice Caddie L6 109 × 42 × 71 mm 325 cm³ 160 g
Bushnell Tour V6, V7 Shift 114 × 41 × 79 mm 369 cm³ 241 to 255 g
Bushnell Pro X3+ LINK 121 × 43 × 83 mm 432 cm³ 340 g
Precision Pro Titan Elite 124 × 86 × 43 mm 459 cm³ 397 g

The Genuinely Compact

Five devices that are meaningfully smaller than the category norm.

1. Bushnell A1-Slope

$299.99, 6x, 145 grams, 206 cubic centimetres and the smallest golf rangefinder I can verify. Single button ranging with a second button reserved for setup, USB-C rechargeable with 50-plus rounds or 3,000 target acquisitions per charge, and a four hour charge time.

The objective is 18mm, giving a 3.0mm exit pupil, and that is where the size comes from. Read the tradeoffs section before you buy.

2. TecTecTec KLYR

$199.99, 6x, 800 yards, and 118 grams, the lightest device in this roundup. 92.7 by 40 by 77.7 millimetres, built-in magnet, ships with a case, a magnetic ball marker and a belt clip.

It uses a CR2 rather than a rechargeable cell, which is a genuine advantage for anyone who stores clubs over winter. The catch is a mode sequence that cycles through normal, scan, pin and slope-plus-pin rather than a single button.

3. Nikon Coolshot 20 GII

130 grams, 91 by 37 by 73 millimetres, 6x, 16.7mm eye relief and a published ±4 degree diopter range. Single button ranging with mode reserved for switching units.

Nikon's five year warranty is the longest term in golf, and the published diopter figure is almost unique. Second lightest and second smallest, which is the best combined position in this piece.

4. Nikon Coolshot 20i GIII

The current generation of the above at the same 130 grams and dimensions, 16.7mm eye relief, ±4 degree diopter, and roughly 10,000 actuations per CR2. Adds incline and decline compensation.

5. GOGOGO Sport Mini Rechargeable GS101

$59.90 and frequently out of stock. GOGOGO publishes no dimensions or weight, so the compact claim is unverified, but it is the cheapest thing in this piece that markets itself on size.

Compact Enough, With Better Optics

Six devices that trade a little bulk for a meaningfully better view.

6. Nikon Coolshot 50i

176 grams, 286 cubic centimetres, 6x with a 21mm objective for a 3.5mm exit pupil, 17mm eye relief, ±3 degree diopter, strong built-in cart magnet, and roughly 13,000 actuations per CR2.

The best balance in Nikon's line between pocketability and a comfortable view.

7. Voice Caddie L6

160 grams, 325 cubic centimetres, 6x, dual colour OLED with continuous scan mode. Voice Caddie's compact entry, lighter than most of the mid-size field.

8. Voice Caddie TL1

201 grams, 313 cubic centimetres, 6x, dual colour OLED, built-in magnet. Slightly smaller in volume than the L6 and heavier, which is the exact tradeoff this piece is about.

Mid-size golf rangefinder held in one hand

9. Nikon Coolshot ProIII Stabilized

$499.95, 205 grams, 317 cubic centimetres, 6x, 18mm eye relief and optical lens shift stabilization of the image and the laser. Compact for what it contains, and the stabilization more than offsets the weight for shaky hands.

No cart magnet, reportedly because it would interfere with the stabilization mechanism.

10. Shot Scope Pro L2

$149.99, x6, 700 yards, one button for power and measurement, plus or minus one yard. Shot Scope does not publish dimensions, though the body sits in the mid-size band.

Golf Insider scored it 100% on accuracy and Plugged In Golf found it as fast as lasers three times the price. The best value device in golf regardless of size.

11. Bushnell Tour V6

$299.99, 241 grams, 369 cubic centimetres, 6x with a 24mm objective for a full 4.0mm exit pupil, extra long 16mm eye relief in Bushnell's own words, BITE magnet. Not compact, and the view is noticeably better for it.

Full Size And Worth The Bulk

Six devices where the extra size buys something real.

Full size golf rangefinder held in two hands

12. Bushnell Tour V7 Shift

$399.99, 255 grams, 6x with 24mm optics, dual colour OLED showing actual and adjusted yardages together, IPX6. Reviewers call it the fastest unit Bushnell has built.

13. Bushnell Pro X3+ LINK

$599.99, 340 grams and 432 cubic centimetres, 7x with a 28mm objective preserving a 4.0mm exit pupil. That is how you go to 7x without penalty: scale the front lens.

The cost is bulk, and a 15mm eye relief that is the shortest of the majors.

Full size golf rangefinder on a cart seat

14. Precision Pro Titan Elite

$399.99, 397 grams, the heaviest here, 18mm eye relief, big red numbers, GPS in the viewfinder, three year warranty, no subscription.

Heavy is not automatically bad. Mass damps tremor, and the 18mm eye relief is the longest published in the industry.

15. Garmin Approach Z82

$599.99, 232 grams, 6x with image stabilization, accuracy within 10 inches of the flag, IPX7, and a confirmation that zooms the hole view map to the green.

16. Vortex Anarch+

$599.99, 6x with a 22mm objective, image stabilization with a toggle, magnets on both sides, roughly 4,000 ranging cycles per CR123. Vortex does not publish a weight.

The unlimited lifetime transferable warranty is the reason it keeps appearing in these lists.

17. Bushnell Tour Hybrid

$499.99, 247 grams, 6x, CR123, laser and GPS distances displayed together so a blind shot still produces a number. The size buys you a second technology rather than better optics.

What Shrinking Actually Costs

Three documented tradeoffs, and only one of them appears on any product page.

Light gathering. Exit pupil is objective diameter divided by magnification. The compact A1-Slope gives 3.0mm against 4.0mm on a full-size Bushnell, a 25% reduction in the light reaching your eye.

Eye alignment. Plugged In Golf put it plainly: the smaller the exit pupil, the more precise your positioning needs to be, and 3.0mm is perfectly usable, but anyone who sometimes struggles to find the numbers should try the A1-Slope before buying.

Grip stability. Two independent reviewers hit this. Plugged In Golf found the compact size and light weight made holding the unit steady slightly more challenging. Golfalot said the compact size meant it was a little tricky to hold still, noted the viewfinder and screen are small too, and concluded it was too small and lightweight for them.

What you gain What you give up
Fits a trouser pocket 25% less light at the eye
Less weight over 18 holes Less tremor damping
Easier to carry walking Fussier eye placement
Often cheaper Smaller viewfinder and display

Battery Is Not A Real Tradeoff

The smallest device here still delivers 50-plus rounds per charge, the same as full-size Precision Pro units. Compact does not mean short-lived.

One genuine caution applies to any rechargeable rather than to compact specifically. Bushnell's own A1-Slope manual warns that storing the battery at 0% for over 80 days could cause permanent damage, and recommends recharging every 60 days, on a cell the owner cannot replace. Bushnell's warranty separately excludes batteries as a wear item. Our golf accessories for accuracy roundup covers the rest of the kit worth the same reading.

Compact rangefinder charging over USB-C

Who Should Skip Compact Entirely

Anyone with unsteady hands, anyone who wears glasses, and anyone over about 65.

Roughly 90% of adults over 45 have presbyopia and essential tremor affects between 5.79% and 8% of over-65s. For those golfers the accessibility-optimal spec sheet is close to the opposite of the compact trend: 200 to 250 grams, a 24mm objective for a 4.0mm exit pupil, and 16 to 18mm of eye relief.

Mass damps tremor and a bigger exit pupil forgives imprecise eye placement. Buying small actively works against both. Our golf accessories comfort roundup and our how to relax on a golf course piece cover the rest of what makes a round easier.

What a smaller rangefinder body costs in exit pupil

Walking golfer carrying a compact rangefinder

Who Compact Genuinely Suits

Walking golfers who carry, anyone playing in a jacket with small pockets, and anyone who has stopped using a rangefinder because pulling it out is a hassle.

That last group is the real market. A device you actually reach for on every hole beats a better one you leave in the bag, and our types of golf carts breakdown covers whether you are carrying at all.

What Rokform Is Bringing To This In September

The Rokform Golf Range Finder 18x arrives September 2026, and it is not the smallest device you can buy. It is the one that stops making you choose a single optical setup for every shot.

8x to 18x adjustable magnification is a category first, and no other golf laser rangefinder offers that range. Everything on this page is fixed at 6x or 7x, which means a compact body with a small objective is permanently dim and a full-size body is permanently bulky. Adjustable zoom changes the calculation, because you dial up for the long read where magnification earns its keep and dial back for the short one where a wide view is faster.

Flag lock with vibration confirms the pin the moment you lock it, so you feel the confirmation rather than squinting for it. The 1,200 yard range reads anything visible on the course, the tournament-legal slope toggle covers practice and competition on one device, and IPX6 handles dew, rain delays and humid summer rounds.

Apple Find My and Android Find Hub tracking are built in, which matters more with a small device than a large one, since small things get left behind. MagMax magnetic mounting snaps it to cart rails and any MagMax surface, running on the same system as our top golf cart accessories lineup. Two year warranty, 60 day money back, $499.99.

Reserve yours ahead of the September launch: Rokform Golf Range Finder 18x. Swing hard, make putts.

Final Thoughts

Decide which competition you are actually entering. If pocket space is the constraint, the Bushnell A1-Slope wins on volume. If carrying weight over eighteen holes is the constraint, the TecTecTec KLYR wins at 118 grams. If you want both reasonably, the Nikon Coolshot 20 GII at 130 grams and 246 cubic centimetres is the best combined position.

Then be honest about your eyes and your hands, because the best compact golf rangefinder for a steady 35 year old is a poor choice for a 70 year old with glasses, and two reviewers said exactly that about the smallest unit here. Our golf accessories every golfer needs list covers what else deserves the space you save.
